Gary and his family live near Baudette, MN,
on Lake of the Woods. He has spent a lifetime hunting, fishing and
trapping. Gary is a lineman for the REA here, but a series of back
surgeries forced him to slow down and find a hobby that was not so
physically demanding. He made his first decoy two years ago and is
quickly becoming a competitive force in decoy competitions.
Gary was the runner up in the 2004 NFDA points competition. Gary placed
first overall in the standings of the
National Fish Decoy Carving competitions in 2005. Quite a meteoric rise to the
top of the heap. Now he has repeated to become the first back to back champ.
